Service Description

Would you like to create a compelling concept design for your own comic, manga, picture book or animation project? Then join our fun and engaging illustration workshop and learn how to translate your ideas into convincing visual narratives! You will explore your creativity through drawing, illustration, and creative writing. In our casual and engaging workshop, your tutor and visual storytelling expert Mara will help you with a range of illustration techniques considering the individual style and preferred medium of each student. You will learn the fundamental approaches to write a captivating story, searching for references, brainstorming, creating convincing character types & design, plan and sketch out scenes and settings and other creative techniques to transform your concepts into engaging illustrations. The course will cover significant areas of visual storytelling. You will learn how to gather ideas, develop stories through structuring and pacing, character and concept design and storyboarding. You are welcome to work on your own ideas or your tutor will give you some exciting prompts and will help you developing your project step by step from simple sketches to a compelling and convincing concept design. Knowledge required: Beginner-friendly class. This is a non-digital drawing course! What you'll get: - Guidance from an expert tutor - The opportunity to learn significant storyboarding and illustration techniques - Specific methods to enhance storytelling skills - A professionally developed concept design for a comic, children's book or animated sequence - Hands-on experience: We are focusing on traditional art making and hand drawing/non-digital concept drawing! Through this physical and tactile experience, you will get a broader view how this material can be used and the physical creation will improve your hand-eye coordination as well as motor skills. Furthermore, traditional artworks are hard to copy, each handmade creation will show your personal style and will be truly unique! What to bring: You only need to bring basic material: drawing sketch pads (A3/A2), pencils (HB, B, 2B) eraser, sharpener. Bring a bottle of water and some snacks if you like! We will have a short break in the middle of the session! Age: 12+ Please note this class needs at least 3 participants to take place
